FLC PISO
September 30, 2009
In January 2004, Folsom Lake College received initial accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC), Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), making FLC the 109th California community college and 4th college of the Los Rios Community College District.
Accreditation is an evaluation process - on a 6-year cycle - designed to assure high-quality education at Folsom Lake College. Accreditation is the “seal of approval” from an objective, outside agency, making Folsom Lake College eligible for federal funds and transfer credit.
To earn accreditation, Folsom Lake College undergoes a rigorous assessment process including an internal self-study. Throughout 2008 & 2009, FLC went through that process. In May 2009, the Los Rios Board of Trustees approved the self-study document that was then submitted to the ACCJC in August 2009.
In the next step of the process, an ACCJC team will visit FLC Oct. 12-15 to follow-up on the self-study and examine the college first-hand.
