El Dorado Center Patrons Club

The goal of the Patrons Club is to spread the word about the El Dorado Center and Folsom Lake College. Membership is open to anyone interested in supporting the El Dorado Center. Many of our members are active in local churches, clubs, and service organizations in the community.

Monthly luncheon meetings are held on the El Dorado Center campus on the 4th Friday of each month, September through May. The monthly meetings include an update on campus activities, as well as a program of guest speakers from the college. Topics cover a wide variety of subjects.

A scholarship luncheon is held in the spring. Proceeds from the luncheon provide student scholarships and other Center needs. The 2009 luncheon will be held Friday, April 24, at 11:30am at Cold Springs Community Church (2600 Cold Springs Road in Placerville).

Patron members also have the opportunity to meet new and returning faculty members -- and to be involved with the college as it grows.

The first meeting of the Patrons Club was held on September 30, 1967 in the multipurpose room at the Placerville Fairgrounds. From this beginning, the Patrons have grown. Along the way, the club has provided invaluable support for the El Dorado Center and its students.

Club Objectives
The objectives of the Folsom Lake College - El Dorado Center Patrons Club are:

Serve as a liaison between the Folsom Lake College - El Dorado Center and the community.

Add to the enlightenment of its members through a planned program of lectures, discussions, and music.

Contribute to the cultural enrichment of the community that the college serves.

Provid ounsel to the Center in the development of an outstanding community college.

Provide money and gifts that will be used solely for the benefit of the students and staff of the college.

Support the Joyce Gossner Scholarship Fund, which provides assistance to students attending Folsom Lake College’s El Dorado Center.

YOU can help the Patrons Club help students.
One way is to join the Patrons. Membership is only $10 a year -- and you can be involved at whatever level of commitment is right for you.

Another way is to make a donation to support students and the Folsom Lake College - El Dorado Center.

For example, each year the Patrons present the Joyce Gossner Scholarship Awards to eligible graduating students from each of the six high schools in western El Dorado County, as well as continuing and returning El Dorado Center students.

In addition to scholarships, the Patrons Club also offer financial support to Center facilities, such as the Library, as well as for computers and physical education equipment.
