Current FLC Student majoring in Mathematics
"The instructors at FLC have a genuine interest in seeing their students achieve their goals and that motivates me even more."

When did you start taking classes with Folsom Lake College (FLC)?
I started taking classes at FLC during the Summer of 2008.
What is your major?
My major is Mathematics.
Why did you choose FLC?
I chose FLC because I believe it is a great school, it's close to my home, and I can take classes while staying near my children while they are at school.
What has been the best part of your experience with FLC?
The best part of my experience at FLC is the flexibility and convenience of taking on-line classes. Since I am a stay-home mom, it's difficult to get the on-campus classes that work with my kids' school schedule. I have been fortunate so far to find classes that work with my family's lifestyle.
What are you particularly proud of that you have accomplished with FLC?
I'm particularly proud that I have received a scholarship through the California Retired Teacher's Association. I have never won a scholarship before and this allows me to continue working toward my goal of being a Math teacher/tutor.
How do you feel Folsom Lake College is helping you prepare for the future?
Folsom Lake College is helping me with my future by having the level of classes that I need to complete my Bachelor's in Math without having to travel farther to Sac State & pay a higher tuition. The instructors at FLC have a genuine interest in seeing their students achieve their goals and that motivates me even more.
What would you like to do after you leave FLC?
After I receive my AS from FLC, I would like to start tutoring kids that have a hard time with Math. I want to be able to show young students that Math can be fun and not intimidating. In addition, I plan on transferring to Sac State to complete the classes needed to receive my BS and Teaching Credential.
