Men's Tennis Team Qualifies Two Players for NorCal Championship Tournament; Bass Named to Big 8 All Conference Team

After battling rain and wet weather for two days at the Big 8 Conference Tournament in Santa Rosa, the FLC men's tennis team qualified a doubles team for the NorCal Regional Championship, to be played at the Ojai Tournament April 24-25. The men's #1 doubles team of Max Bass & Bill Bagnas had to play through the backdraw and reach the Consolation finals in order to qualify for the regional tournament. Following the conference tournament, Max Bass was named to the Big 8 All-Conference team.

Falcon Tennis Falls to Diablo Valley

The Folsom Lake College men's tennis team wrapped up the Big 8 Conference regular season with a competitive loss at Diablo Valley College on Friday by the score of 7-2.  Gabriel Payne (#5 singles) and Jose Torrentes (#6 singles) were victorious for the Falcons.

Falcon Tennis Defeated By American River

The FLC men's tennis team took their game on the road last Friday for a Big 8 Conference match at American River, but did not find victory. The Beavers were not kindhearted hosts as the ARC men won 8-1.  FLC's #3 doubles team of Gabriel Payne & Moya Gbadamosi was the lone winner for the Falcon men, although Payne came very close in singles.

Men's Tennis Team Falls to Diablo Valley

The FLC men's tennis team closed out their home schedule yesterday at Broadstone Racquet Club a loss to Big 8 rival Diablo Valley College by the score of 6-3. Winners for the Falcons were #5 and #6 singles Gabriel Payne and Jose Torrentes, and #3 doubles team of Payne and Travis Daly.

Men's Tennis fall to Santa Rosa

FLC ended up on the short end of a 9-0 score. The #2 doubles team of Bill Bagnas/Dan Lee had the best chance for a Falcon victory, but fell 9-8. Gabriel Payne also played well but lost in a third set tie-breaker, 10-5.

Men's Tennis drop match to Sierra

On Friday the FLC men's tennis team hosted Big 8 conference rival Sierra College at Broadstone Racquet Club. Sierra came away winners but the Falcons gave the Wolverines a scare, taking four singles matches to a third set. Winners for FLC were Gabriel Payne at #5 singles (6-2, 4-6, 6-4), and the #1 doubles team of Max Bass & Jon Machel (8-4).

Men's Tennis at Santa Rosa

On Friday, the FLC tennis teams travelled to Santa Rosa to play their second Big 8 Conference match of the season. The men were defeated by the score of 8-1, while the women nearly pulled off a major upset, barely losing 5-4. Max Bass (#1 singles) was the lone Falcon winner on the men's side, winning the third set tie-breaker 11-9. Max sprained his ankle late in the match with the third set tied 8-8, but after a tape job on his ankle, he rallied to win 3 of the last 4 points to take the match!

Men's Tennis falls to Sierra 2/18/14

The Falcons' #1 doubles team of Max Bass and Bill Bagnas spotted their Sierra opponents a 6-1 lead, then rallied to pull out a 9-7 victory. Bass also won at #1 singles, 6-0, 6-2. Bagnas, playing #2 singles, nearly pulled off a major upset but fell in three sets, 1-6, 7-5, 4-6.

Men's Tennis defeats Cosumnes River 2/11/14

The men's tennis team won their first match of the young season by sweeping all three doubles matches and winning 4 of 6 singles. Max Bass led the Falcons with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in #1 singles and teamed with Bill Bagnas for an 8-1 win in #1 doubles. "I was really pleased with our improved focus and energy," commented head coach Ashlee Ashba.

On Friday 2/7/14, the FLC men's tennis team travelled to the central valley to take on Reedley College and the weather. They managed to complete all three doubles matches and were partially into the singles when the rain came, wiping out the rest of the match.

Men's tennis team defeated by Modesto JC in Modesto, 9-0.

Head Coach Ashlee Ashba noted that "Although the Falcons were outplayed, they had several very close games. They will continue to work hard and improve."
