Apply to the MLT Program

Application Instructions

Thank you for your interest in the Medical Laboratory Technician Program. The application period of the Medical Laboratory Technician Program is now closed. Information on the next application period will be made available in late spring 2018.

The MLT application period is now closed. Information on the next application period and an application form will be made available in late spring 2018.

STEP 1: Become a Folsom Lake College Student
If you are not currently a student at Folsom Lake College you will need to become one. Click here and complete step one to apply to the college. Note this process does not grant admission into the MLT Program.

STEP 2: Transcript Evaluation by Counseling Services
In order to expedite the application process we require that all first-time applicants meet with counseling services to have their prerequisite courses and other graduation requirements evaluated. First-time applicants who fail to meet with Counseling Services for transcript evaluation will be rejected.

Counseling Appointments tend to fill up quickly, as such, it is highly recommended that MLT applicants make an appointment as soon as possible. To make an appointment please contact Counseling Services at 916-608-6510 (FLC) or 530-642-5645 (EDC). You will need to bring the following to your appointment:

• College transcripts
All college transcripts: UNOFFICIAL transcripts from colleges within the Los Rios Community College District (ARC, SCC, CRC, FLC). OFFICIAL (sealed) transcripts from schools outside LRCCD. For foreign transcripts, an evaluation from a NACES-approved independent agency must be conducted and the evaluation submitted at your counseling appointment. In addition, applicants with foreign transcripts seeking prerequisite equivalency must provide course descriptions from an official course college catalog for the semester in which they completed the course. Please contact Counseling Services for more information.

If you are a second-time or more applicant, have already met with a counselor previously, and still meet all of the current required perquisite coursework, you may skip this step.

STEP 3: Complete MLT Application and Return

Download the MLT Application. Be sure to save the blank application to your computer first as the in-browser PDF will not save your answers. Your complete application packet must be delivered in person to the Office of the MLT Program Dean (Room B-232) at the El Dorado Center of Folsom Lake College, 6699 Campus Drive, Placerville, California 95667 by 4:30pm on Tuesday, October 31st, 2017. Mailed applications will not be accepted. Please review the application check list below to confirm that your application packet is complete. If any item is missing, the application packet will not be processed and your application rejected.

***Note: Starting in late May 2017 the El Dorado Center will closed on Fridays***

Complete Application Packet Includes:

  • Completed Counseling Services Pre-Application Meeting (Counseling Dept. will forward results to MLT Director.)
  • Completed and signed application
  • Signed copy of MLT Essential Functions (Included in Application)
