Physical Education/Kinesiology

Career Options & Highlights

The Physical Education curriculum offers a wide variety of courses to accommodate varying fitness levels, interests, and abilities including: dance, cardiovascular fitness, martial arts, strength training, mind/body activities like yoga and tai chi, individual sport activities such as archery, tennis and golf, adapted physical education courses, and theory courses for the aspiring fitness professional. These courses are designed not only to enhance physical conditioning, but to stimulate the students’ intellectual growth as well. Students should carefully read the course description to determine if it will meet their needs. Many of the Physical Education offerings transfer to both the CSU and UC systems accommodating students pursuing a four-year degree. However, some four-year colleges and universities limit the number of units they will accept toward the baccalaureate degree. For specific requirements, students should refer to a catalog from the transfer institution of their choice. Students are also advised to see a counselor before selecting the courses best aligned with their transfer institution. One unit laboratory activity courses may be taken four times.
