Professor Alan Clarke

alanBefore I began teaching at Folsom Lake College, I started and operated my own Lobbying and association management firm at the State Capitol in Sacramento. Starting with just one employee my firm grew into one that employed over 20 people and enjoyed revenue over $1 million dollars per year and represented a vast array of clients. I sold my interest in the business to my partners and went back to school to obtain my Masters Degree in Public Administration.

I have a Masters degree in Public Administration and BA in Political Science from CSU-Sacramento. I graduated from American River College with an AA in Social Science. While at American River College and CSU-Sacramento, I was involved in Student Government. Currently, I am an Elected Official in El Dorado County and live in Cameron Park.

In my view, learning is a fun and active process and my classes are very interactive and require participation from the class. I encourage my students to be well prepared and not afraid to be critical thinkers. I have high standards for myself as well for my students, and I enjoy class meetings very much. I assist my students in meeting these standards with guidance and support from me and support from fellow students.
