Election Forums

FLC PISO
October 19, 2010

Don't forget to VOTE on Nov. 2nd!

Don't forget to VOTE on Nov. 2nd!

The community is invited to attend two election forums: at the El Dorado Center on Friday, October 22 starting at 6pm in the Community Room (C-102) and at the main Folsom campus on Friday, October 29 starting at 6:30pm in the Community Room (Aspen Hall room FL1-20). These non-partisan forums are designed to help voters learn about the candidates and propositions on the ballot so they can make informed decisions during the November 2nd election.

The October 22 forum at the El Dorado Center will feature representatives from the governor campaigns of Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown and the U.S. Senate campaigns of Barbara Boxer and Carly Fiorina. Candidates for El Dorado County Sheriff, John D'Agostini and Craig Therkildsen, are also confirmed to participate. The final session of the evening will feature representatives from the groups supporting and opposing the proposition to legalize marijuana in California. Students will also host a "Proposition Pathway" with tables of information for and against many of the propositions on the upcoming ballot. Paula Lee of the League of Women Voters will serve as moderator, and audience members will be invited to submit questions for all speakers. Coffee and light desserts will be provided. This event is hosted by EDC's Political Science students and Student Activities Club.

The October 29 forum at the main Folsom campus will feature representatives from the governor campaigns of Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown, the Third Congressional District campaigns of Ami Bera and Dan Lungren, and groups supporting and opposing the proposition to legalize marijuana in California. A representative from the League of Women Voters will serve as moderator and audience members will be invited to submit questions for all speakers. This event is hosted by FLC's Political Science Department.

Both events are free and open to the community (parking is $1). For a map with directions to the main Folsom campus or the El Dorado Center, click here.
