Go Falcons!

Go Falcons!

Folsom Lake College's athletics program is proud to announce its first-ever official falcons logo, which will be used by all athletics teams as well as on official college merchandise.

The process began in 2004, when students, faculty, and staff voted to accept falcons as the college's mascot. Intercollegiate athletics began in Spring 2010 and an official logo design contest was launched.

That contest started when Folsom Lake College made an open call asking all students, faculty, and staff to design a falcons logo that was "fierce, aggressive, modern, swift, and sharp (in its beak/talons)." A total of 18 designs were submitted and reviewed by a panel of students, faculty, and staff in late March. That panel selected the top three designs according to submissions criteria. Those three designs were then voted on by all students, faculty, and staff in mid-April, with one design the clear favorite.

Following the vote, the winning falcons logo was unveiled at a college-wide meeting May 14. It is now being presented to the entire community. The logo was designed by Ron Richardson. The community can expect to see the Folsom Lake College falcons logo on a variety of athletics apparel and college merchandise in the near future.

"This is an exciting step in the continued maturation of the young Folsom Lake College intercollegiate athletics programs," said Dr. Stu Van Horn, Dean of the Folsom Lake College athletics program. "I invite the community to support Folsom Lake College student athletes by wearing some falcons gear."
