The Falcon's Eye Theatre at Folsom Lake College calls for actors from the community to audition for its fall production of William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet.

The Falcon's Eye exposes the contemporary relevance of Shakespeare's masterpiece to youth and families today by taking a modern and audacious approach to the classic tale of two feuding families. Finding love in a dangerous time, Juliet and Romeo must hide from the blind anger and ignorance of the adult world surrounding them. Powerful issues eternally facing young adults eventually overwhelm the star-crossed lovers in this timeless romantic tragedy.

Audition Date: Tuesday, September 4, 2012, 6:30pm. Auditions held on a first-come, first-served basis.

Audition Location: Auditions will take place in the Drama Lab (PAC-1170) of the Three Stages Performing Arts Center on the Folsom campus of Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway (off E. Bidwell St.), Folsom, 95630. For a map, click here. On College Parkway, turn left at the stop sign. One dollar parking permits are available at kiosks located throughout the parking lots. Please access PAC-1170 through the door indicated on the map.

Auditioners MUST prepare a monologue that is no more than 90-seconds-long from any play written by William Shakespeare. Please no teleplays or screenplays or passages from novels or song lyrics. Also, please no original writing. This monologue should best portray the actor's strengths and can be of any genre, but must be from a play written for the stage by William Shakespeare. This monologue must be memorized.

Auditioners who are called back will also be asked to audition by way of cold readings from the text. Therefore, it is recommended that Auditioners be familiar with the play Romeo & Juliet before auditioning. Auditions and call-backs are expected to run until approximately 10pm each night. It is requested that Auditioners bring an 8x10 photo-headshot and resume of acting experience, if available, but this is not required.

Callbacks: September 5 and 6, 6:30pm by invitation only.

Rehearsal Dates: Approximate dates and times are September 17 through November 1, 2012, evenings and some weekend afternoons. Minor conflicts with these dates are permissible. Significant conflicts with these dates are not allowed.

Performance Dates: November 2 through November 18, 2012, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm. Additional performances are Saturday, November 3, at 2pm, Thursday, November 8, at 7:30pm, Friday, November 9, at 10:00am, and Friday, November 16, at 10:00am. Performances will be held at Three Stages at Folsom Lake College in Stage 2, the City Studio Theater.
