Auditions for Fall Play

Falcon's Eye Theatre
August 22, 2017

Falcon's Eye Theatre's fall production is The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum at Charenton Under the Direction of The Marquis de Sade (Marat/Sade) by Peter Weiss. This play has been called a major modern theatrical innovation. This "total theatre" event engages the eye, the ear, and the mind with every imaginable theatrical device fused in one breathtaking experience. Revolution is the driving force of this tale, which asks the questions "Are the same things true for the masses and for their leaders? And where, in modern times, lie the borderlines of sanity?"

When: Tuesday, September 5, 6:30-10:00pm. You MUST make an appointment to audition - sign up here.

Where: Audition will take place in the Drama Lab (PAC-1170) at the Harris Center for the Arts on the Folsom campus of Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway (off E. Bidwell St.), Folsom, 95630. For a map, click here. On College Parkway, turn left at the stop sign. Two dollar parking permits are available at kiosks located throughout the parking lots.

What to Prepare: You MUST prepare a monologue that is no more than 60 seconds long from any stage play. Please no teleplays or screenplays or passages from novels or song lyrics. Also please no original writing. This monologue should best portray the actor's strengths and can be of any genre. The monologue must be memorized. It is requested that auditioners bring a full-sized photo-headshot and resume of acting experience if available, but this is not required. Please Note: If you have performed in a Falcon's Eye Theatre production in the past, you may skip the required monologue audition. Please make an appointment for Wednesday, September 6 at 6:30 pm for cold reading call backs and vocal auditions.

Callbacks: Call back auditions are Wednesday, September 6 by invitation only. Callbacks will consist of cold readings from the play as well as vocal auditions. It is recommended that auditioners be familiar with the story of Marat/Sade before auditioning. Prepare 16 bars to sing from a song of your choice that highlights your vocal range. The song may be of any genre. Bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided. Callbacks are expected to run approximately three hours.

Rehearsal Dates: September 18 through October 26, 2017. Rehearsal times will include weeknights and weekends. Minor conflicts with these dates are permissible. Be prepared to provide your complete calendar of availability at the first audition.

Tech/Dress Week and Performance Dates: October 27 through November 19, 2016. Performance calendar will include one Friday morning and weekend days and nights.
