The Falcon's Eye Theatre at Folsom Lake College calls for actors from the community to audition for its fall production of Mark Brown's dynamic stage adaptation of the classic Jules Verne novel, Around the World in 80 Days.

About the play:
Join fearless adventurer Phileas Fogg and his faithful manservant as they race to beat the clock! Phileas Fogg has agreed to an outrageous wager that puts his fortune and his life at risk. With his resourceful servant Passepartout, Fogg sets out to circle the globe in an unheard-of 80 days. But his every step is dogged by a detective who thinks he's a robber on the run.

In 2001, Jules Verne's novel was adapted for the stage by American playwright Mark Brown. In what has been described as "a wildly wacky, unbelievably creative, 90-miles-an-hour, hilarious journey," this award-winning stage adaptation is written for an small ensemble of actors who portray 39 characters.

About the auditions:
Auditions for Around the World in 80 Days will be held Monday, September 13 at 7:00pm on a first-come first-served basis. Callbacks will be held September 14 and 15 at 7:00pm by invitation only following the September 13 auditions.

Auditions will take place on the main Folsom campus (10 College Parkway in Folsom). Daily parking permits are available at kiosks located throughout the parking lots for $1. Come to the Community Room, Aspen Hall room FL1-20, to sign in for auditions. The Community Room is located near the south entrance of campus, on the southwest corner of Aspen Hall/FL1. For a map with directions to the auditions, please click here.

Auditioners are asked to prepare a monologue that is no longer than 90-seconds-long from any stage play. This monologue should best portray the actor's strengths and can be of any genre, but must be from a play written for the stage. This monologue must be memorized. Auditioners who are called back will also be asked to audition by way of cold readings from the text. Auditions are expected to run until approximately 10:00pm. It is requested that you bring a photo and resume, if available, although these items are not required.

Around the World in 80 Days contains a large and diverse cast. All actors will be cast in multiple roles, so versatile character actors are requested, although experience is not required. Actors of any race, disability, or age over 18 are needed. However, actors of Indian origin especially sought.

Around the World in 80 Days rehearses September 27 - November 4, evenings and Saturday afternoons, and opens on November 5. Performances continue from November 6 - 21, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:00pm. There is one Thursday evening performance November 18 at 8:00pm and one Saturday afternoon performance at 2:00pm on a date TBA.
