Gear Up for Fall!

August 08, 2017

Get ready for Fall!

Get ready for Fall!

The Fall 2017 semester officially begins on Saturday, August 19 (online and Saturday classes begin). Most full-term fall classes will have their first session Monday, August 21 - Friday, August 25.

Make sure you are ready!

- Get your Student Access Card (which is your official college ID) at the Welcome & Student Success Center in Aspen Hall/FL1 at the Folsom campus, in the Computer Lab (C-210) at the El Dorado Center, and in the Learning Resource Center (RCC1-203) at the Rancho Cordova Center. Make sure you bring a photo ID and proof of payment for the semester (this can be printed from eServices) or a copy of your California College Promise Grant (formerly BOG fee waiver) and proof of enrollment. There is no charge for the card. For your card to be valid as a regional transit pass, it must have the current semester sticker attached (pick up at the same location).

- Get your textbooks at the FLC College Store. You can check online here to determine what materials you will need for each class.

- Get your Fall 2017 parking permit online now at eServices or in-person at Admissions & Records. If you order online, your parking decal will be mailed to your current mailing address within the next couple days. And, please make sure to arrive early the first week of school - the parking lots do fill up! Please Note: There will be a partial solar eclipse on Monday, August 21 from 9-11:30am. If you have classes at EDC on Monday morning, the EDC Observatory will be open to the public for this event, and we expect traffic and parking at EDC to be heavier than usual. We encourage you to arrive early so as to avoid traffic and parking issues.

- Check out your classroom locations. Come to campus before the semester begins to locate your classrooms. For maps of the Main Folsom campus, the El Dorado Center, and the Rancho Cordova Center, click here. Also, double-check your schedule to make sure where your class meets. For example, "FLC MAIN" classes meet at the Main Folsom campus, "EDC" classes meet at the El Dorado Center in Placerville, and "RCC" classes meet at the Rancho Cordova Center. Don't assume that all classes meet at the Main Folsom campus.

- Bring a copy of your most current schedule with you on the first day of class. You can print this off at eServices.

- Make sure you've met the prerequisites for your classes and/or bring prerequisite verification to the first class meeting (test score or unofficial transcript). Click here for more information on prerequisites.

- Are you on a Wait List? Here are some tips:

  • Prior to the start of the session, check your Los Rios Gmail and eServices regularly to see if you have been auto-added into the class. If so, make sure you pay your enrollment fees IMMEDIATELY to avoid being auto-dropped due to non-payment.
  •  SHOW UP TO THE FIRST CLASS SESSION! Instructors will fill open spaces on their rosters first from the wait list.
  • If the instructor adds you, they will give you a permission number. Make sure to register for that class using that permission number and pay the enrollment fees immediately.

- Do you want to add a class? For instructions on how to search for open classes, click here. Fees are due at time of enrollment. Click here for more information on fee payment policies.
