Auditions for Spring Play

Falcon's Eye Theatre
December 20, 2017

"Hair" premieres this Spring

"Hair" premieres this Spring

The Falcon's Eye Theatre at Folsom Lake College calls for FLC students and actors from the community to audition for its spring production of Hair. All skill levels encouraged to audition.

The Falcon's Eye celebrates the sixties counterculture in all its barefoot, long-haired, bell-bottomed, beaded, and fringed glory with Gerome Ragni, James Rado, and Galt MacDermot's Hair. To an infectiously energetic rock beat, the show wows audiences with songs like "Aquarius," "Good Morning, Starshine," "Hair," "I Got Life," and "Let The Sun Shine." Exploring ideas of identity, community, global responsibility and peace, Hair remains relevant as ever as it examines what it means to be a young person in a changing world.

Advisory: The musical of Hair has historically included nudity. For our production, there will be only partial/obscured nudity (such as body paint/back lighting). This will be voluntary and optional for those 18 and older only. An actor's choice of whether or not to participate in the partial nudity will in no way effect any casting decisions. Please Note: This production also contains strong coarse language, simulated drug use, and strongly suggestive dialogue.

When: Open Monologue Auditions - Monday, January 29, 7:00-10:00pm. Sign up for an audition time slot. We will be contacting you to confirm your audition appointment in the days leading up to auditions. Please Note: If you have performed in a Falcon's Eye Theatre production in the past, you may skip the required open monologue audition. Please use the same link to make an appointment for callbacks on Tuesday, January 30 at 6:30pm for vocal, acting (cold readings from Hair), and dance callbacks.

Where: Audition check in will take place in the Drama Lab (PAC-1170) at the Harris Center for the Arts on the Main Folsom campus of Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway (off E. Bidwell St.), Folsom, 95630. For a map, click here. On College Parkway, turn left at the stop sign. $2 parking permits are available at kiosks located throughout the parking lots.

What to Prepare:

OPEN MONOLOGUE AUDITION
Auditioners MUST prepare a monologue that is no more than 50 seconds long from a play. No teleplays, screenplays, or passages from novels or song lyrics will be accepted. No original writing. The monologue should best portray the actor's strengths and can be of any genre. Monologue must be memorized.

CALLBACKS
Those who are called back will be given readings from the text. Therefore, it is advised to be familiar with the stage play of Hair.

VOCAL AUDITION
Prepare 16 bars of your choice that highlights your vocal range. Choose a song in the rock-and-roll/Broadway style of Hair. You may select a song from the show. Bring sheet music in the correct key. An accompanist will be provided.

DANCE AUDITION
You will participate in a movement audition. No preparation is necessary. Wear loose fitting attire that allows for easy movement. Jazz shoes or tennis shoes are recommended. No bare feet or socks are allowed. Specific choreography from the show will be given during dance callbacks.
