Smoking Policy

Folsom Lake College will now permit smoking ONLY in designated areas on the main Folsom campus. This change comes about following extensive feedback from students, staff and faculty where the college community has expressed their concerns about the hazards of secondhand smoke.

The policy, adopted by the FLC Safety Committee and approved by President Rachel Rosenthal, prohibits anyone on campus from having a lighted tobacco product (including e-cigarettes) outside designated areas.

Signs are posted to identify the smoking areas on campus. Please see the campus map here for the locations of Designated Smoking Areas (DSA).

In addition, Folsom Lake College supports active smoking cessation programs and will provide assistance to students, staff and faculty who wish to curtail or eliminate their smoking. For more information, please contact College Nurse Mary Hansen at (916) 608-6787 or hansenm@flc.losrios.edu.
Please Note: Information on official designated smoking areas at the El Dorado Center will be coming soon. As the current Rancho Cordova Center location is leased space, we have no authority to designate smoking areas. Move in at RCC's new permanent location will include having designated smoking areas identified and in place before opening to students in 2015.
