Auditions for Spring Play

Falcon's Eye Theatre
December 19, 2011

Join The Falcon's Eye Theatre this Spring!

Coming this spring, The Falcon's Eye Theatre calls for students and/or actors from the community to audition for its production of Carlo Gozzi's classic commedia dell'arte fairytale, The King Stag.

Carlo Gozzi's hilarious comic fable comes to life in the forest with King Deramo and the faithful Angela who loves him. In this magical fantasy, men become creatures and creatures become men. Deceit, lies, magic, murder, betrayal, and loyalty all share the stage in this charming pursuit of true love. Gozzi's 18th-century fairy tale, performed by The Falcon's Eye in the style of commedia dell'arte under the direction of discipline expert Jamie Van Camp, still captivates audiences with its humor, colorful, larger-than-life characters, and intricately entangled plot.

Audition Date: Monday, February 13, 2012, 6:30pm on a first-come, first-served basis.
Audition Location: Auditions will take place in the Drama Lab (PAC-1170) of the Three Stages Performing Arts Center on the Folsom campus of Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway (off E. Bidwell St.), Folsom, 95630. On College Parkway, turn left at the stop sign. One dollar parking permits are available at kiosks located throughout the parking lots. Please access PAC-1170 through the door indicated on the map here.

Auditioners MUST prepare a monologue that is no more than 90-seconds-long from any play written to be performed on a live theatrical stage. Please no teleplays or screenplays or passages from novels or song lyrics. Also, please no original writing. This monologue should best portray the actor's strengths and can be of any genre, but must be from a play written for the stage. This monologue must be memorized.

Auditioners who are called back will also be asked to audition by way of cold readings from the text. Call-back auditions will also contain a movement element, so Auditioners should arrive to call-backs in comfortable attire for movement, warmed up, and ready to learn theatrical movement for an audition. Expertise in theatre movement is NOT REQUIRED.

Auditions and call-backs are expected to run until approximately 10pm each night. It is requested that Auditioners bring an 8x10 photo-headshot and resume of acting experience, if available, but this is not required.

Callbacks: February 14 & 15, 6:30pm by invitation only.

Rehearsal Dates: February 20 through April 26, 2012, evenings and some weekend afternoons. Significant conflicts with these dates are not allowed.

Performance Dates: April 27 through May 13, 2012, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Additional performances are Saturday, May 5 at 2pm and Thursday, May 10 at 7pm. Performances will be held at Three Stages at Folsom Lake College in Stage 2, the City Studio Theater.
