In front of the largest crowd to ever attend a sporting event in the history of Folsom Lake College (standing-room only, estimated at 650-700), the FLC women's soccer team defeated Solano College on Friday night by the score 2-0 to claim the Bay Valley Conference Championship in just their first year of competition. The win caps an undefeated run through the BVC, resulting in a 12-0-2 conference record and 18-0-3 overall. As of November 8, the Falcons were ranked #2 in Northern California, #5 in the state, and #15 in the nation (according to CCCAA and NSCAA polls). Samantha Madsen also led the state in scoring with 32 goals.

The Falcons will now focus on the post-season, which begins Saturday, November 23. Sixteen Northern California teams will qualify for the state playoffs, which include three single-elimination games, before culminating with the four-team state championship at Cosumnes River College December 5-7. The Falcons won't know their first round opponent until after the seeding meeting on November 19, but will likely host their first-round match.
