The Folsom Lake College Foundation and The Robert S. and Star Pepper Foundation announce the Arts Education Program Challenge to raise a minimum of $150,000 by December 31, 2013 to help support FLC Youth Arts Education Programs.

The funds raised will support three years of programming in the following areas:

  • Folsom Lake College Summer Youth Arts Academy: two sessions of a week-long visual arts camp for children aged 8-14.
  • Folsom Lake College Youth Chamber Orchestra: an elite performance ensemble made up of the best young string musicians in Sacramento, Placer, and El Dorado counties. Funding will also support a touring program for the Youth Chamber Orchestra, with performances planned at at-risk K-12 schools to encourage music appreciation.
  • Harris Center for the Arts/Three Stages K-12 Matinee Series: will offer school aged children from the greater Sacramento area the opportunity to attend world class performing arts presentation which align with local school curriculum.

Folsom Lake College and the Harris Center for the Arts/Three Stages are committed to supporting and sustaining the arts across the Sacramento region. Fostering excellence in the arts and nurturing the next generation of performing artists and arts lovers remain important components of their mission.

The Peppers have generously pledged the first half of the financial resources up to $75,000 and have challenged the Fabulous 50 Corridor and greater Sacramento communities to close the funding gap by contributing matching donations. To make a pledge, click here. For more information, contact Sally Howard, Folsom Lake College Director of College Advancement, at 916-608-6643 or howards@flc.losrios.edu.
