Foundation Programs
Foundation Programs Include:
- The Student Emergency Fund: For many students, cash is already tight so when an emergency arises these students are faced with financial difficulties that can take a toll on their personal and academic lives. The Student Emergency Fund provides immediate financial assistance to FLC students involved in a catastrophic or emergency situation where circumstances are sudden, unexpected, and/or affect a student's ability to function. All awards are contingent on availability of funds. Emergency examples include but are not limited to: an accident, illness, travel for a funeral, fire damages, or need for temporary housing. For more information, please contact Kristin Haas at (916) 608-6705.
- Student Textbook Scholarships: Each semester the Folsom Lake College Foundation holds a Textbook Scholarship Drawing. Textbook scholarships in the amount of $250 each are provided to students for use in purchasing books and supplies for the following semester. The awards are made in the form of a voucher valid only at the Folsom Lake College Bookstore. All students of Folsom Lake College are eligible to enter by simply filling out an entry form and dropping it in one of the many entry boxes located on each of the Folsom Lake College campuses. Last year, twelve scholarships were awarded.
- Mini-Grants: The FLC Foundation Mini-Grant program provides financial assistance to help innovative faculty and staff improve student learning. Some of the programs/projects/equipment that have been funded in the past include: ESL pronunciation cards, Wi-Fi at the Rancho Cordova Center, the library's Digital Storytelling Competition, professional videographer services, the Intercollegiate Business Plan Competition, Boot Camp equipment, skeletal models, and the FLC Literary Journal.
- Annual Fund: The Folsom Lake College Annual Fund is an unrestricted educational fund that helps to further the excellence of the college. The Folsom Lake College Foundation Board of Directors direct Annual Fund proceeds to unmet, high-priority campus needs.
The Emergency Fund, Mini-Grant and Student Textbook Scholarship programs are entirely supported by the Annual Fund. We depend on our donors -- alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends -- to help meet the needs of the college.
