2009 Graduate; Degree in Human Services

"The teachers at FLC are wonderful. They really take the time to help you understand and actually care about their students."

Katy Munoz

When did you start taking classes with Folsom Lake College (FLC)?

I started taking classes at Folsom Lake College in the Fall semester of 2007. It had been almost ten years since I graduated from high school. Scary, but I survived.

What is your major?

I just completed my Associates Degree in Human Services. I enjoy helping people in our community.

Why did you choose FLC?

FLC offers the Human Services classes that I was interested in and that's why I chose to attend the school.

What has been the best part of your experience with FLC?

The teachers at FLC are wonderful. They really take the time to help you understand and actually care about their students. I felt very comfortable and value everything I have learned.

What are you particularly proud of that you have accomplished with FLC?

The Human Services (HSER) 362 course in which I participated in an internship with El Dorado County Social Services and was offered a job.

How do you feel Folsom Lake College is helping you prepare for the future?

The caring teachers and the small class sizes contribute to students' success. The internship classes are wonderful. The opportunity to get hands on experience in the workforce is priceless. Even if I hadn't been hired by El Dorado County, I still would be very greatful for everything I experienced during the internship.

What would you like to do after you leave FLC?

I had not originally planned to go any further than my AA, since I am not getting any younger! But now, I feel that I am a lifelong learner. I want to continue working fulltime for El Dorado County, while pursuing my Bachelors Degree in Social Work.
