Current FLC Student majoring in Political Science
"[FLC] offers a lot of different academic plans to fit your goals."
When did you start taking classes at Folsom Lake College (FLC)?
I started taking classes here in Fall 2010, after serving in the military and managing a cafe in San Francisco. Now that I am honoring my values and beliefs which are education, family, and my community, I have never been happier.
What is your major?
My major is Political Science. I want to have a positive influence on governmental policy at the state, national, and international level. I want to bring people together to solve current issues for the common interest. I hope to be among the great leaders of my generation.
Why did you choose FLC?
The faculty, staff, and administration are so helpful and knowledgeable. They offer a lot of different academic plans to fit your goals. FLC has the most current technology and the most beautiful campus with amazing views. From the gas chromatograph in the chemistry lab to the new gym on the horizon and state-of-the-art classrooms, FLC has everything to fit any needs.
What was the best part of your experience at FLC?
Discovering and understanding myself. Establishment and refinement of my goals. Developing the confidence and wisdom to set a solid foundation for the rest of my academic career.
What are you particularly proud of that you accomplished at FLC?
I'm particularly proud of being both a charter member and president of Kiwanis Club, and having the privilege of performing in Three Stages as part of my dance class recital.
How do you feel Folsom Lake College prepared you for the future?
FLC is preparing me through the outstanding personal support they extend to all of their students who use the resources this campus has to offer. The staff that work in the Reading and Writing Center are a great example of the helpful culture FLC has. I have spent many hours there studying in their quiet private rooms, using the computers, and just chatting about what's going on in the world.
What are your future goals when you graduate FLC?
After I graduate FLC, I plan to complete my bachelors at California State University Monterey, then go on to law school at University of San Francisco.
