Claire Alano
Current FLC Student majoring in Dance Studies

"The professors are very experienced and qualified in their craft."

Claire Alano

When did you start taking classes with Folsom Lake College (FLC)?

Fall 2008

What is your major?

Dance Studies!

Why did you choose FLC?

The location is very convenient for me and the campus is also very beautiful and well designed.

What has been the best part of your experience with FLC?

I have two: First, trying to acquire my Associates in Dance Studies, it was necessary to enroll in all the dance classes with Debi Worth as my professor. Thanks to her, I've grown in my technique, my stage presence, my choreography, and most of all, my love for dance.

Secondly, at the end of every semester, the dance program and the FLC dance company, MOSAIC, put on a show at The Harris Center called Evening of Dance. The students and I are able to showcase amazing choreography in front of a supportive audience in one of the most beautiful theaters in the Sacramento county. It is such an honor and a privilege.

What are you particularly proud of that you have accomplished with FLC?

Being a student here for quite some time, I've managed to make a name for myself as not only a dancer, but a choreographer as well. I've choreographed numerous routines for Evening of Dance and even choreographed for two FLC plays. Each dance was a proud success!

How do you feel Folsom Lake College is helping prepare you for the future?

My future involves both dance and fitness so thankfully FLC offers so many of those classes here which makes it easy to succeed. Also, the professors in these two programs are very experienced and qualified in their craft and truly want their students to succeed.

What are your plans for the future?

Dance is my passion but fitness is my career. My plan is to be a well-rounded fitness instructor teaching cardio dance, kick boxing, stretch, the barre workout, and much more!
