2015 Graduate; Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies: Arts & Humanities

"My best experience at FLC was being a part of the Choral Ensemble."

Kellsey Christensen-Long

I began taking classes at FLC during the Fall Semester of 2011, a few months after graduating from high school. I majored in Interdisciplinary Studies: Arts & Humanities, because being someone who has grown up in everything involving the Arts, I wanted a major that gave me the chance of seeing myself as a "Universal Artist." I chose FLC for multiple reasons, including a promising faculty as my instructors, the cleanliness of the campus, and most of all the distance; Out of all the Los Rios campuses, FLC was the closest to my residence (a 45-50 minute drive). My best experience at FLC was being a part of the Choral Ensemble in 2012, and 2014-2015. The choir director, past and present, accepted me and gave me the confidence I lacked in my music. The current Choir director especially helped me out through my choral and solo experience, and I cannot thank him enough! FLC helped me prepare for the musical and theatrical world thanks to the awesome instructors.

After receiving my A.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies: Arts & Humanities in May 2015, I decided that I needed to take some time off of school to focus on my music career (as well as other personal matters). In fact, I just recently sent in my video audition for NBC's THE VOICE for their upcoming season (or the season after that), and am currently waiting for a response.

The performing arts is my life; Music is my life. Being a classically trained singer for about 15 years now, it became my goal to pursue music and inspire upcoming musicians to become what I will become in the near future. Music became my language, my therapy, my job, and that is what I am planning to carry over for the rest of my career.
