Ryan Wood
1999 Graduate; Degree in General Education Transfer

"I enjoyed the sense of community."

Ryan Wood

Folsom Lake College alumnus Ryan Wood is currently a partner with Stoel Rives, LLP in Sacramento and practices in the firm's Real Estate and Construction group, focusing on construction and business litigation.

In addition to his legal practice, Wood served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve from 1993 to 2013. During his military career, he deployed three times, including one deployment to the Al Anbar province of Iraq with the Navy Seabees in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Ryan began at Folsom Lake College in 1998 following his active-duty tour and went on to attend Sacramento State and the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. He is an adjunct law professor at McGeorge, where he teaches persuasive analytical strategies and skills to third-year law students. He also serves as chairman of the board for the Youth Development Network, Inc., a regional nonprofit group that provides training and support to teachers and other youth mentors.

He was named one of Los Rios Community College District's Distinguished Alumni at the 50th Anniversary Gala held in October 2015.

Reflecting on his time at FLC, Ryan shares, "I enjoyed the sense of community. The school was small at the time, and still under construction. It was easy to get to know the faculty and other students. My courses were challenging, requiring me to do a lot of independent study from the lecture. Most required heavy reading and language memorization. FLC helped prepare me for the reality of my future studies."
