Graduation and Candidate Information

Congratulations on the completion or near completion of your degree at Folsom Lake College! We look forward to celebrating with you, your family and friends at our Commencement ceremony on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 6:30 p.m.

Commencement Ceremony

Commencement will begin at 6:30 p.m. SHARP on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the Harris Center for the Arts at Folsom Lake College. Doors leading into the Harris Center lobby will open at 5 p.m. and doors inside the venue entering the theatres will open at 5:30 p.m.

Who is eligible to participate in the May 17 Ceremony?
Summer and Fall 2016 graduates and Spring 2017 candidates for graduation (who have petitioned with a college counselor for a degree by the March 3rd deadline).

Graduate Check-In
Graduates must check-in between 4:45 and 5:45 p.m. at the Harris Center for the Arts in Dressing Room B (through black box glass doors on the north side of the Harris Center).  For a map, click here.

Commencement Ceremony - Graduate Information Session (required)
The Graduate Information Session will begin at 6:00 p.m. in Room 1270. Graduates are required to attend the Information Session with cap and gown (which you purchase IN ADVANCE at the College Store). During this time you will be instructed on entering and exiting the commencement area, receiving your diploma cover on stage, proper tassel placement, and seating arrangements. The ceremony will immediately follow the Information Session. For more detailed information including Information Session instructions, click on this link.

Ticketing
Due to limited seating in the Harris Center, graduates' guests will be required to have tickets in order to enter and re-enter the Harris Center for the ceremony. The determination of the number of guest tickets for each graduate for Stage One will be made after the April 27 deadline once it is known how many graduates are participating.  It could be 2-4 guest tickets for Stage One per graduate, depending on sign-ups. 

Each venue in the facility will be used with the actual ceremony taking place in Stage One. Overflow seating will be available in Stage Two and Stage Three. Graduate's family and friends should plan to arrive together if they would like to sit together as guests are asked to refrain from saving seats. Parking
Parking is free during the ceremony; therefore, Permit and/or Daily Pass Parking will NOT be enforced on the day of the ceremony. However, all red, green and blue zones will be enforced.  There is a drop-off area immediately in front of the Harris Center (this area will be blocked immediately after the ceremony ends until the departing crowd dissipates).

Accessible Seating
The Harris Center is accessible to guests with special needs. Accessible seating locations are available for guests in wheelchairs or with limited mobility in all theaters. Wireless Assisted Listening Devices (ALD) are available for check-out at the Kirklin Coat Check Room located in the first floor lobby.
When picking up your guest tickets in the Welcome & Student Success Center, please alert staff that you need "accessible" and/or "companion" tickets.

Regalia (cap and gown requirements)
In order to participate in the ceremony, you must purchase your cap and gown in advance at the FLC College Store.
The cap, tassel and gown are yours to keep and are the required attire for the ceremony (teal robe, teal mortarboard and teal & black tassel).   You have an option to purchase the cap and gown set ONLINE - make sure to give yourself enough time for shipping. 

Cap and gown set: $31.00 (including tax)

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) members may wear a gold PTK stole and/or other PTK regalia. You may purchase these items in the College Store (Stole for $24 plus tax / Honor cord for $15 plus tax), or online at the Phi Theta Kappa website, www.ptk.org

EOPS and Student Government participants also wear stoles.

Other items you may purchase from the College Store (but not required):
Graduation Announcements - $1.00 each (plus tax) / Box of 25 for $19.95 plus tax.
Additional tassels - $6.99 (plus tax).

Photographer
Ultimate Exposures will be providing photographic services during commencement.

GRADUATES – SIGN UP HERE IF YOU WANT TO WALK IN THE CEREMONY!

If you are participating in the Commencement Ceremony, you must submit the form by Thursday, April 27, in order to ensure you get tickets for your Guest tickets.
