Distance Counseling

Welcome to Distance Counseling!

The Distance Counseling service provides current and prospective FLC students an opportunity to connect with a counselor for guidance with non-urgent matters pertaining to academic and/or career planning. The service can be accessed via e-mail or by telephone. Telephone appointments must be scheduled in advance by calling: 916-608-6510.

Distance Counseling Can Assist Students with The Following

  • certificate, degree and transfer requirements
  • course prerequisites
  • course offerings and majors available
  • referrals to programs/services
  • clarification of college procedures and policies
  • course transferability
  • career exploration tools/resources

Personal counseling is not available via the Distance Counseling service.

If you have an issue that needs immediate attention, we encourage you to visit our campus services page , or if in crisis, call 911.

If your question is too detailed or complex to be answered on-line, you may receive a message recommending that you schedule a telephone appointment or see a counselor on campus for guidance.

Prior to submitting your question, please view our FAQ (frequently asked questions) list or student success resources as they may provide you with an immediate answer to your question.

Questions are answered in the order in which they were received.  We ask that you allow 3 working days for a reply.
