New Student Counseling

As a new student to Folsom Lake College, we would like to welcome you!  Below is the next step to completing the pre-enrollment process, which will ultimately allow you to be able to register for classes.  It is imperative to complete this step to achieve priority enrollment status.

Sign Up Here To Attend an Academic Planning Session:
Academic Planning Sessions are offered at each of our three locations. Space is limited, and is offered on a first come, first served basis.  To register for an upcoming session, choose from the locations below.  Dates and times will be provided once you log in.

Things to bring with you: Assessment scores, high school and/or college transcripts, AP Test scores.

What To Expect From Your Academic Planning Session
During the academic planning session, you will put together a first semester education plan with an academic counselor. Education plans are required for new students in order to receive priority registration, and will help assist you in determining appropriate classes you can take your first term.  Planning sessions will cover general education requirements, major preparation, pre and co-requisites, class search, and college resources.  Each session will take approximately 1.5 hours.

Follow Up Counseling Services
Counseling services (drop in and appointments) are offered at all three of our sites.  We encourage students to meet with a counselor to develop a comprehensive plan after attending an academic planning session, which will include semesters beyond the first, and is specific to each student's educational goals.

Counseling appointments may be made (up to one month in advance)  by calling 916-608-6510 (FLC), 530-642-5645 (EDC) or 916-255-0717 (RCC).

Hours: By appointment, M, W, TH day and evening; Friday during the day; and on a drop-in basis (no appointment necessary) on Tuesdays and during peak registration times.

Location: Both Folsom Lake College and El Dorado Center Counseling Centers are located in the Student Services Buildings on each of these campuses. Need a map of each campus? Counseling Services at Rancho Cordova Center can be accessed at the main Rancho Cordova Center office.
