FLC Services for Success

With a focus on student success, Folsom Lake College offers student support services and opportunities to help students prepare for transfer to four-year schools and universities, workforce education, basic skills improvement, intellectual and physical development, and cultural enrichment.

Admissions and Records

Assessment Services
Placement Exams to measure skills in mathematics, English, and English as a second language. FLC (916) 608-6573; EDC (530) 642-5649

Bookstores
In addition to required and optional textbooks, the bookstores sell a variety of school and office supplies, study aids, computer software, clothing, snacks and souvenirs. FLC/RCC (916) 608-6565; EDC (530) 642-5656

CalWORKs
Assists students who are receiving TANF/Public Assistance with educational planning and counseling, support services, and job placement/retention services. FLC (916) 608-6560; EDC (530) 642-5648; RCC (916) 255-4450

Campus Tours
Individual and group tours available at the Folsom Main Campus or the El Dorado Center. FLC (916) 608-6589

Computer Labs
The Computer Labs are open to all registered students and are available to meet computer needs while on campus; hours vary. FLC (916) 608-6702; EDC (530) 642-5689; RCC (916) 255-4555

Counseling
Personal counseling helps students assess their talents, abilities and interests, and relate them to educational programming and career alternatives. FLC (916) 608-6510; EDC (530) 642-5645; RCC (916) 255-3432

Counseling for Re-Entry Students
Counseling support for students who are returning to the educational system after a long absence. FLC (916) 608-6510; EDC (530) 642-5645; RCC (916) 255-3432

Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSP&S)
Educational and support services for students with physical and learning disabilities. FLC (916) 608-6611; EDC (530) 642-5630; TDD/Voice (916) 691-7273

Early Alert/Retention
A referral program to assist students in need of support and resources to aid in college success. Instructors may refer students. FLC (916) 608-6730

Extended Opportunities Programs and Services (EOP&S) and Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE)
EOP&S/CARE provides academic support to eligible students to pursue their academic, career and life goals. Services include counseling and advising, book buying assistance, early registration, workshops, transfer assistance, etc. CARE provides services in addition to EOP&S including CARE grants, transportation services, child care assistance and supply vouchers. Financial Aid
Financial Aid is available for students who need help in meeting their educational costs in the form of state and federal grants, loans and scholarships. FLC (916) 608-6646; EDC (530) 642-5651; RCC (916) 255-5211

Health and Wellness Services
The Student Health Center is staffed by a registered nurse who is ready to help students maintain their health through a variety of health services. FLC (916) 608-6782

International Students
Admission and academic assistance for international students as well as information about U.S. laws and regulations regarding visas. FLC (916) 608-6730

Libraries

Reading and Writing Center (FLC) and English Center (EDC)
The FLC Reading and Writing Center and the EDC English Center are supportive and personalized learning environments. By enrolling in one or more of the Reading and Writing or English Center classes students can receive innovative, individualized and quality instruction in reading, writing and language skills. Associated Students

Student Life

Transition Center
For students who are planning to transfer to a four year college/university, the Transfer Center offers videos, catalogs, college application forms, transfer counseling, and "ASSIST:" a computerized articulation system. FLC (916) 608-6510; EDC (530) 642-5644

Tutorial Services
Individual tutoring is available in many subject areas, including basic skills and study skills courses. This services is available to current students at no cost. FLC (916) 608-6807

Veterans Affairs
Assistance to veterans and to dependents of deceased or disabled veterans who may qualify for federal and state educational programs. FLC (916) 608-6500; EDC (530) 642-5644

Work Experience
Opportunities to earn college credit for new experiences gained through paid or volunteer work by combining planned and supervised work experience with college instruction. FLC (916) 608-6552
