EOPS/CARE Eligibility

EOPS and CARE services are available students for 6 consecutive semesters or 70 total units, whichever comes first. 

 In order to be eligible for EOPS at Folsom Lake College, you must meet ALL of the following:

  • Be a California Resident
  • Enrolled in 12 semester units (certain exceptions apply)
  • Have completed no more than 50 degree applicable units
  • Receive the Board of Governor's (BOG) Fee Waiver A or B
  • Enrollment in or completion of ESL 50 level courses, or higher. Students are eligible for ESL 50 level courses through assessment or by completing prerequisite classes as outlined in the College Catalog.

In addition, you must meet ONE of the following:

  • Placed in or have taken basic English, Math or ESL classes
  • High School or college GPA of 2.49 or below
  • Did not receive G.E.D. or pass high school equivalency exam
  • Being the first in your family to attend college

All CARE students must first be admitted into EOPS. Additionally, you must meet ALL of the following:

  • Be a single parent, head of household
  • Receiving TANF & CalWORKs aid from the county
  • Have a child under the age of 14 at the time of admission
