**NEW**  The state of California recently developed new eligibility rules for the California College Promise Fee Waiver that will take effect for fall 2016. It is important that you are aware of these changes as they may affect your academic status.

IMPORTANT: Students who are placed on academic or progress probation for two consecutive terms will no longer be eligible to receive a California College Promise Grant.

What is Academic Probation? A student who has attempted at least 12 units is placed on Academic Probation if the student has earned a combined grade point average below 2.0.

What is Progress Probation? A student who has enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester units is placed on Progress Probation when "W," "I," "NC" or "NP" grades are recorded in one half or more of the total units in which a student has enrolled.

If you are a student experiencing academic difficulty, you are encouraged to meet with a college counselor and take advantage of the many support services available to you. More information about academic or progress probation and support services is available on your college website and college catalog.

The California College Promise Grant (formerly Board of Governors Fee Waiver) offers three ways for students to qualify to have their enrollment fees waived by the State:

- Method "A" (documentation is required) -- Qualified applicants (or parents, if applicant is dependent) must be currently receiving TANF (Temporary Aid For Needy Families), SSI (Supplemental Security Income) or General Assistance/General Relief through the county Social Services Department.  TANF/CalWORKs, SSI/SSP, or General Assistance recipients must bring documentation (aid verification summary, last voucher, or check) in order to qualify. Documents submitted will be accepted only if they are dated within the last 30 days.

- Method "B" -- Qualified applicants (and parents, if applicant is dependent) do not exceed the income standards.

Family size 2016 income
1 $18,090
2 $24,360
3 $30,630
For each additional family member add . . . $6,270

- Method "C" -- Qualified applicants have filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA, listing Folsom Lake College (Federal School Code 038713), and have unmet financial need.
