Thank you for your interest in Folsom Lake College. The faculty and staff of Folsom Lake College - and the El Dorado and Rancho Cordova Centers – are committed to supporting student success. International students are considered a very important part of the growing college community. The Folsom area is home to people from all over the world. As one of the fastest growing areas in the U.S., many multinational companies have a presence in this area. You will find the Folsom area to be safe with a reasonable cost of living. Application Procedures

As an international student at Folsom Lake College, you will need to follow two procedures:

1. International student application: to receive an I-20 that will allow you to apply for and receive an F-1 visa or continue your F-1 status in the U.S.

2. Academic admissions: to be able to register for classes.

Application Deadlines

REQUIREMENTS INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADMISSIONS

Folsom Lake College is approved by the Department of Homeland Security to issue the I-20 document, which will allow you to apply for a U.S. F-1 visa and enter the U.S. in F-1 status. After receiving the I-20, please be sure to visit the website of the nearest U.S. consulate to follow visa application procedures. All U.S. consulate websites are posted on the U.S. State Department Website. Also, additional information is given at UnitedStatesVisas.gov. The following documents are required in order to issue the I-20 document:

  1. Evidence of English Proficiency:
    a. Official TOEFL test result of 450 minimum (written) or 133 minimum (computer based) or 45 minimum (Internet based).

Along with TOEFL, Folsom Lake College also recognizes STEP Eiken scores for English proficiency for Japanese students. Minimum acceptable score on this test is completion of Level 2. Grade Pre-1 or higher is required for undergraduate degree programs. For more information on STEP Eiken, please see www.eiken-ryugaku.com.

b. FLC ESL (English as a Second Language) assessment test scores
 
  2. Financial Support: Official bank letter/BCIS affidavit of support in the exchange rate of $15,500.00 U.S.dollars.
 
  3. Educational History:
    a. 1 Official high school diploma/transcript showing graduation, or;
    b. 1 Official college transcript (Non-English documents must be accompanied by translated copies.)
 
  4. International Student SEVIS form completed.
 
  5. Folsom Lake College On-line application.
 
  6. $50.00 Non-refundable application fee payable to Folsom Lake College in the form of a check, money order, or cashier’s check.
 
  7. Certification of Negative Tuberculosis Skin Test (can be completed after arriving on campus).
 
  8. Evidence of Health Insurance.
 
If you are currently in the U.S. attending another school as an F-1 student, please submit these additional forms:
 
  9. FLC TRANSFER FORM. This will be completed by your international student advisor.
     
  10. Copy of VISA stamp in your passport.
     
  11. Copy of I-94 in your passport.
     
  12. Copy of your current school’s I-20 issued to you.
