In addition to the usual living expenses, you should anticipate certain additional costs when you enroll in college. To help meet these costs, consider applying for financial aid. Many forms of financial aid are available; it is not necessary to be from a low-income family to qualify. However, evidence of some financial need is a necessity.

Students may qualify for:

  • grants - money that does not need to be repaid
  • loans - money that must be repaid
  • work study - part-time work while attending school

It is important to know what documentation the college requires and how soon it should be submitted. Most colleges will need the information early. If you plan to enroll in the fall, start collecting your information in January of that year. The financial aid department will need your transcripts, tax returns and other records.

At Folsom Lake College, the financial aid office is located in the Student Support Services building behind the flagpole. At El Dorado Center, you will find the financial aid office in the Student Services Office. Office hours are posted in the Student Lounge along with other basic information on current scholarships and other financial aid services. Inquire at the main office at Rancho Cordova.
