The Disabled Student Program provides equal educational opportunity for students with a physical, psychological or learning disability. Students with disabilities are encouraged to lead active and independent lives by participating in all college programs. Counseling and special support services are provided to students who are eligible for the program. Flyers with program hours and location are available in the Student Services Offices and in the Disabled Student Programs and Services offices at Folsom Lake College,El Dorado Center and in the main office at Rancho Cordova.

Learning Disabilities

Each student has a unique learning style, and the Learning Disabilities Program was developed to help students use their learning strengths and achieve their community college goals. Many students of average or above-average intelligence have diagnosed learning disabilities. These students may receive special support services and accommodations to complement their learning needs. Special services include diagnostic testing, notetakers, alternative test arrangements, academic tutoring and faculty/community liaison services.

Physical and Psychological Disabilities

Students with the following disabilities are eligible to receive special support services: hearing impaired and deaf, blind and low-vision, mobility impaired, psychologically disabled (a diagnosis from a psychologist or psychiatrist), and other health problems that would require special assistance in the college environment.
