The application period for the next Cohort of the Medical Laboratory Technician Program begins on June 1 and ends on October 1 of each year.

Application Process

Step 1: Review MLT Application Requirements

Please review the application requirements for the MLT program here.

Step 2: Become a Folsom Lake College Student

If you are not currently a student at Folsom Lake College, then you will need to apply to Folsom Lake College. Note: this process does not grant admission into the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Program.

Step 3: Transcript Evaluation by Counseling Services

In order to expedite the application process, we require all first-time applicants meet with Counseling Services to have their prerequisite courses and other graduation requirements evaluated. First-time applicants who fail to meet with Counseling Services for transcript evaluation will be rejected. Counseling appointments tend to fill up quickly so it is highly recommended MLT applicants make an appointment as soon as possible.

To make an appointment, please contact Counseling Services at (916) 608-6510 (FLC) or (530) 642-5645 (EDC). You will need to bring the following to your appointment:

College transcripts
UNOFFICIAL transcripts from colleges within the Los Rios Community College District (ARC, SCC, CRC, FLC).

OFFICIAL (sealed) transcripts from schools outside LRCCD. For foreign transcripts, an evaluation from a NACES-approved independent agency must be conducted and the evaluation submitted at your counseling appointment. In addition, applicants with foreign transcripts seeking prerequisite equivalency must provide course descriptions from an official course college catalog for the semester in which they completed the course. Please contact Counseling Services for more information.

If you are a second-time or more applicant, have already met with a counselor previously, and still meet all of the current required perquisite coursework, you may skip this step.

Step 4: Complete MLT Application

Apply Now

Students accepted into the MLT program will be required to successfully pass background, drug, and immune screens through an approved vendor. A valid social security number is required per background check requirements. Students must also meet all Essential Functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Folsom Lake College does not discriminate on the basis of age, color, creed, disability, marital status, veteran status, national origin, race, or sex.
