College Enrollment fees
$46 per unit.

Background Check and Drug Screening (Non-Refundable)
Fee: $100 to $135
All accepted applicants are required to pass a background check and drug screening. More information will be given during orientation.
Vaccination and TB Clearance report
Fee: varies based on individual vaccination history, healthcare coverage, and test results.
Information about obtaining these services at reasonable cost is available from FLC's sister college, American River College Health Center. All documentation of immunizations must go through the college's current and approved vendor.
Rotation Management Software Subscription (Non-Refundable)
$100 to $135 per student.
The MLT Program and its clinical partners utilize cloud-based rotation management systems to aid in the onboarding and tracking of students during the practicum portion of the program.
Liability Insurance Coverage (Non-Refundable)
$40.
All MLT students are required to purchase their prorated portion of FLC's annual liability insurance policy.
Health Insurance Coverage
While health insurance isn't explicitly required, students are strongly encouraged to obtain health insurance while in the MLT Program should an injury occur. Learn about student health insurance.
CPR Course (Non-Refundable)
$50 to $100
All MLT students are required to have Basic Life Support training through the American Heart Association. If possible, students will be given the opportunity to participate in a course at a discounted rate.
Other Expenses:

- Disposable Gloves, Glass Slides, and other class supplies
- Disposable Lab Coats
- Printing and Computer Costs
- Transportation to classes and clinical rotation site*
* While we make every effort to ensure students have access to local clinical affiliates, there are several hospital sites that are outside of this service area. As a result, each student should be prepared for the costs associated with traveling long distances or relocating temporarily for the duration of their clinical rotation. Information on how the program determines student site preference can be found in the MLT Handbook section 4.7.
Licensure Costs
In order to become officially licensed as a Medical Laboratory Technologists, graduates from the FLC's MLT program must both pass a national licensing exam and apply for licensure through the State of California. The fees associated with each activity are as follows:
- $215 MLT Certification Examination by American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Registry (ASCP)
- $230 MLT Licensing by California Department of Health Services. The application fee is fully non-refundable. No partial or full refunds will be granted.
